You might be feeling that no one quite fully understands all the complex and overwhelming feelings you are experiencing and it's feeling pretty lonely and isolating right now.
Counselling can provide a safe and non-judgemental space where you don't have to be alone, as you sit with these feelings, come to understand and appreciate them, honour the loss you are grieving or the trauma you have experienced and eventually heal and start living your life again.
I know it might be hard to believe it, or even find the motivation to think about this right now but...
You can find yourself and your life again. I am glad you are here...when you are ready, please reach out, so you don't have to travel this journey on your own.
Are you finding yourself feeling "broken", "lost", "misunderstood" or "out of sorts"? Perhaps you are struggling with relationships with your family, friends, co-workers or the relationship you have with yourself. Are you finding yourself feeling "broken", "lost", "misunderstood" or "out of sorts"? Perhaps you are struggling with relationships with your family, friends, co-workers or the relationship you have with yourself. At times you wonder who you really are and how you got to this point of feeling like this.
At these times, it can feel overwhelming in knowing how to get back to a place where we feel good about ourselves and our life. My approach to individual counselling is one of fostering a deeper understanding, acceptance and appreciation for ourselves and who we truly are. Sometimes we don't know who we really are outside of the expectations that have been placed on us or that we have placed on ourselves.
Through working together, using a variety of different approaches that feel right for you, we will nurture your true self and learn to listen to what your mind and body need in order to heal, grow and make the changes you want to make moving forward.
Wouldn't it feel so good to be excited to come home to a welcoming partner, instead of a war zone? To not feel like you have to walk on eggshells to avoid getting into the same argument over and over?

Wouldn't it feel so good to be excited to come home to a welcoming partner, instead of a war zone? To not feel like you have to walk on eggshells to avoid getting into the same argument over and over?
It's hard to even find the motivation to try to connect with your partner when you've been hurt and you don't feel like you are valued, understood, heard or appreciated for who you really are.
Using the goals and philosophy of the Gottman Method of Marriage and Couples Counselling, we will work together to explore the areas in your relationships that hold conflict, communication breakdowns, resentments and hurt and come to a better understanding of what isn't working in your relationship. By knowing what isn't working, we can work together to tailor the focus to learning the tools, techniques and methods that help to nurture the regrowth of love, respect and trust in YOUR relationship.
Or perhaps you have moved on from one relationship and have now met someone new and are trying to blend your families, but struggling with how to connect together in a way that works for everyone.
There is also support and guidance available to help you navigate seperation and divorce, if you find yourself at this point in your relationship.
Thank you for taking this time to invest in yourself and to learn more about Nurture Me Counselling. I am located in British Columbia, Canada.
I know reaching out for support can be a huge and often very intimidating and scary step. My hope is that by reading a little more about me, it will help to settle some of those very normal feelings you may be having, in trying to find a counsellor who you can feel comfortable being open with. But I want to encourage you to trust yourself, you'll know when you find the right counsellor for you.
To begin...My name is Jen McDonald and I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) & Certified Trauma-Informed Coach. I was drawn to become a counsellor after my own life experiences with various childhood traumas, as well as more recent traumas in my adult life as well. At 14, I unexpectedly lost my mom and more recently, my dad also. I have also navigated relationship struggles and breakdowns and have rediscovered myself and continue to heal the old and unhealthy patterns and behaviours, through my own counselling and healing experiences.
These experiences, I feel, have allowed me to approach the work I do with clients with a deeper understanding and level of empathy pertaining to some of the real struggles we face in life, especially in navigating the many complex emotions, thoughts and reactions that come with trauma, grief and loss.
One thing I've learned is that healing from traumas and loss of all types can be a beautifully messy, non-linear, daunting and sometimes very scary and lonely journey...but it is one that is always well worth the travel in the end...and you don't have to do it alone.
In our sessions together, I will hold a non judgemental space for you to discover and explore the many emotions and thoughts that come with healing. We will laugh together, cry together and grow towards nurturing you back to a place where you are excited to truly live your life again.
While trauma and loss does change us, I believe that our own self discoveries and understanding through this journey can bring about a deeper, more meaningful acceptance and appreciation for who we are, and with that, a greater love for ourselves. From there, it leads us to more meaningful relationships in our lives with others and nurture the desire for continued growth, as we begin to see the positives we can make by taking back our own lives and no longer letting our experiences define us.
I feel truly privileged in working with each wonderfully unique person who invites me on their journey, as they strive to heal from their past traumas, losses and experiences and work toward building a more fulfilling, loving, meaningful and rewarding life for themselves.

Hello, I'm Willow. I've had a bit of a traumatic life before finding myself here, but have found safety and comfort in being around calm humans. While I am a cat and tend to live by my own schedule, I do like to join in on some sessions with those who enjoy my presence and need or want a little extra comfort. I tend to find a comfy spot on the couch or by your feet and sleep away the hour. If you want me to be present in your session, or have any questions, please ask.
